Since I’ve started this blog I find myself posting, blogging, and commenting more and more every day. Sometime I catch myself “replying”, “commenting”, “posting” and I think to myself… “Why the hell am I writing this… crap (whether it is a post on my own blog or someones technical/news forum when I’m always pushing myself everyday because I have so little time?”. But since I’ve started this blog, the funny thing is, I get this deep feeling that I’m leaving little parts of me across the web (giving back to the online community). The same community that I had so frequently referenced when I wanted to learn something or look up something as opposed to spending 5 years mastering and knew to a “t”.

Week Vacation Comes to a Close

Alright so I took a week of leave (vacation) this past Sunday and today I go back to work at 1200. Here’s a recap…I started off this past Sunday to check out for vacation. It started at 1200 and would last until Friday the 25th (today). Sunday I was supposed to go on leave at 1200 but I slept in because my body wanted otherwise. This week lasted a moderate amount of time (given that it wasn’t for a special occasion and that I was on my own “program”). Monday and Tuesday was pretty much recuperation for the almost 5 years in my current occupation. I guess I owed my body and my brain some rest.

Wednesday I finally turned on the lights and transformed my cave into the room I so frequently despise (but also appreciate). I started the usual lists that I do (in my head/on the whiteboard/on paper/on the computer).

*Believe it or not those lists make me feel like I’m going crazy but when I look back at them, I know they work for sure.

Anyways, I put my list together and started to figure out what I needed to do. Here is what I had lined up: bills, car repairs, copy of my car key (dealership), fix my phone, figure out terminal, check the mail, pack up my stuff, check out plane tickets, sort/setup/start my files and folders, laundry, schedule my going away with my terminal leave, buy an alarm, printer ink, etc…

Today is Friday and I keep forgetting that. All I can remember is that I have to go back to work at 1200. But I remember that after today it’s the weekend again and I don’t care anymore. Most of the stuff on my to-do list has been done (minus the really elaborate/important/complicated items which just take time). Overall the week of leave, yet probably “under-used”, was something I needed. Now I can look back and be reminded that it’s not work that has been holding me back but myself. I’ve had the time to do the things I needed all this time but kept blaming it on work. I’m going to get ready for the day but I’ll be back this weekend. As far as my phone situation, I’ll keep you posted. It was semi-amusing at first to not have a phone but now it’s affecting my time management and effectiveness.

I-Phone News: 3GS IOS 4.0 jailbreak clarification…

If you’re like me (and a bunch of other people online) you’ve probably been crawling the web to figure out how to jailbreak your 3GS 3.1.3/4.0 I-Phone. If this sound about right read on…

Currently all I-Phones, I-Touchs’, and IPads can be jailbroken and unlocked EXCEPT the I-Phones 3GS “new bootrom”. So if you’re tired of searching and hitting F5 to see when the new “jailbreak” is released (which could be any moment), I’ve setup RSS feeds on most of the “I-Phone” websites. As soon as it is released, I’ll post it up here. In the mean time, back to laundry.

The dreaded wait for the new I-Phone “jailbreak/unlock”…

So apparently, I’m not the only one waiting for this stupid update. Anyways, I’ll keep whoever reads this posted as soon as it’s out. So to reiterate, the jailbreak more specifically has not been released for I-Phone 3GS 3.1.3/4.0 on the new baseband (for Windows anyways). I’ll update this post in a little bit I have to go get laundry…

Alright, in case those of you didn’t get the word and have been trying to reach me, here’s the deal…I have an I-phone 3.1.3 – 32GB cell phone. The only thing is that I have T-Mobile as my mobile carrier. Confused, well let me explain. Mobile carriers (Sprint, T-Mobile, A&TT, etc..) have mobile phones specific to their cellular network. For those of you who want an I-Phone think “The only way I can get an I-Phone is to switch my cell phone service to A&TT.” Well that’s not completely true. Mobile carriers like to “lock” their devices so that they can only be used on their cellular network. They do this so customers have no choice but to use their network if they want to use a certain phone. Now cell phone companies unlock phones for customers but they only do it for one reason. If you are going to travel over seas, you still use the same network but because it’s the network overseas, you’re phone won’t work unless it’s unlocked. So all you would have to do is call your cell phone company up and tell them that you will be traveling over seas and they will unlock your phone for you (T-Mobile is the only cell phone company that does it for free **so I hear**) So some pretty smart people (the computer type) found a way to “unlock” the I-Phone so that it could be used on any cellular network. In order to do so, you have to alter the phone software (which people on the internet refer to that as “jailbreaking”). Once you “jailbreak” the phone, you have the ability to modify the phone software however you want. Jailbreaking, however, is only the first step. Once the phone is jailbroken, it still needs to be “unlocked” to be able to use your cellular network that you mobile carrier uses.

Long story short, I upgraded my I-Phone to the newest update which the “unlock/jailbreak” hasn’t been “released” yet. So my phone is completely useless until around June 24th when they release the newest “unlock/jailbreak”. So if you’re trying to call me, you won’t have any luck reaching me. If it’s important, shoot me an email and I’ll get back to you. Until then, sorry about the inconvenience but consider it a “vacation” for me. Father’s Day Laziness

So today is Father’s Day. I am the proud father of one girl (3yrs old) and one boy (1 yr old). Since I’ve been in the military, holidays are just the days that allow me to get off of work…one more day to relax on the weekends. All the holiday spirits and traditions aren’t the same for me like they used to be. As for Father’s Day, well, I said a prayer for my father today and hopefully I see my babies on the web cam. Other than that, I’ll be here laying down being lazy.

Times are wrapping up in my “Career” and I’m starting to realize that I’m going to miss it so much. There are things that people “should” do but don’t. I’m my current job, I really don’t get that choice. To be honest, if I could go back and do things all over again I wouldn’t. I am the man I am today, and it wouldn’t be that way if it weren’t for “my current occupation”. This will be my first post but definitely not my last. I want to give a shot out to xcomassassin for showing me a thing or two. No rush on posting since there will be more to come so I leave you with this.
